2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (sifted)
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
6 eggs
2 teaspoons baking powder
10 tablespoons margarine (or butter)
1 cup liquid milk (whole, skim or evaporated)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

@islandgirl33306 years agoThanks for your video. I made this cake yesterday. It is a good cake but I will have to do some tweeting. I am going to change the milk portion and include some sour cream, buttermilk or yoghurt and up it a bit with either and extra tspn of vanilla or a bit of almond essence and a little cinnamon.. I will have to experiment. I would like it to be tastier. A little to plain tasting for me. I guess my problem is that I have baked many types of cakes, but the texture is excellent which is important. For a matter of fact it is a recipe that can taste different with different essences, grated orange peel or lemon peel. Now that I have reviewed the recipe, I realize that I used unsalted butter and should have added 1/4 to 1/2 tspn of salt. It would have made a big difference. I will see how the next one tastes. ...

@islandgirl33306 years agoPrecious. I baked the cake again. Substituted 3 tbpns of sour cream in the milk portion, added a little cinnamon and 1/2 tspn salt. It came out great. I found that it tasted better every day. I was able to leave it outside of the fridge for the three days that it lasted. So it is a keeper. Thanks for the recipe. Islandgirl. ...2
