This video will be on one of the weirder and definitely the heaviest helmets I own the Russian ssh68N. This helmet was a recycling project meant to help bring the Russian army up to modern standards after the fall of the Soviet Union. In the mid 2000’s the Russian military decided to take old soviet steel helmets and line them with a ballistic aramid (VSM) membrane adhered to the inside of the Soviet ssh68 helmet. This helmet didn’t change anything else and was known as the ssh68m, it retained the same liner and chinstrap as the old ssh68 just with a new heavy aramid membrane. Later another version was made with a thicker membrane for more protection and a modern suspension sand chinstrap was added this model was the ssh68N. This helmet would be given to rear and second line troops who needed the armor protection but not the latest and greatest gear. These helmets serve until today but are being phased out for much better lighter designs. Hopefully you liked this video and subscribed if you like this sort of stuff. Please leave a comment with any questions, additional information, user experiences, or suggestions for future videos and I will do my best to answer them. As always thanks for watching.
