DOC_SUKHANI (Nepal Television)

The 46th memorial day of five martyrs who were killed during the Jhapa Rebellion was marked on 5th March 2019. Five leaders associated with the Jhapa rebellion were shot dead at a forest in Sukhani of Ilam on March 4, 1973. This incident is remembered as the Sukhani Massacre. Ramnath Dahal, Netra Ghimire, Biren Rajbanshi, Krishna Kuinkel and Narayan Shrestha were executed in the jungle by a firing squad after being brought their from Chandragadhi in Jhapa under a pretext of shifting them to another prison. They were involved in the movement against the then Panchayat regime.
