Today Tuesday April 7th, I had to be around the Democracy Monument and went to have a little look on Kao San Road. It is really a pity to see how this area is affected by the Covid-19 virus. It looks like a ghost town. The whole street is under construction, it will look nice when it is finished. Soi Ram Butri which runs parallel to Kao San Road is also completely dead. The only shops open are the 7-eleven supermarkets. Bangkok now has an evening curfew, people are not allowed outside between 10 pm and 5 am. Only people with special permissions are allowed to travel during the night time. #bangkok #kaosan #covid19 #kaosanroad #coronavirus #7eleven #shopping #bkkpark #rambutri #bangkokcovid19 #bangkokcorona #bkkshutdown #bkkupdate #thailand #backpackers #thaiadventure #nanaBTS #sukhumvit11 #sukhumvithomes #socialdistancing #quarentine #oldtown

@patsim16154 years ago The origin of khao san from the start.
a taxi driver pick up a arriving first time lone tourist from don mung airport and intro this very first the people living in khao san was annoyed by such regular dins and pretty soon, they realised they can sublet their rooms out to these young tourists to make an income. And so more family quarter doors open and thus, the birth of theinfamous khao san road.
i was one of the earliest lucky batch to stay in khao san. At that times, there' s no walking street at night. No late night stuffs. All these was slowly added in with people selling second hand goods and some push carts of things and cook food around. And finally, the whole street was full of bars and internet services and blasting music everywhere
