Central Otago and the Mackenzie District during the Autumn months is crazy beautiful. You get hints of winter with snow capped peaks at Mount Cook National Park, and your pick of lakes lined with golden trees. We spent a week in the area exploring Arrowtown, Lake Ohau, Ben Ohau, Lake Ruataniwha, Lake Tekapo, Mount John Observatory, Lake Pukaki and Mount Cook National Park, including the Mueller Hut and Hooker Valley trails.
