@pensnut083 years ago The best thing (one of them) is to get elderly parents, friends, relatives etc, to not answer "unknown" callers!! It took me and my sister almost two years to get my mom to stop answering every single call.
I was a telco tech and it took time to get her to understand that even caller ID can be altered by these scammers. And that when you answer a call and all you hear is silence.. That is how scammers look for valid numbers... Example: Your phone rings and you see your name and number... It happens. ... 13

My wife has been receiving a call a day for the last week on her mobile...all are mobile numbers they ring long enough for the caller id to pop up..so you call them back...which we never do...scammers are calling nearly every country I don't doubt...so be careful ... 16

I was a victim of a romance scam 3 years ago and finally able to speak about what happened to me with out crying and feeling all those feeling of helplessness all over again. I take satisfaction in watching u expose these people like the garbage they are. They costed me everything and I almost took my own life. The helplessness I felt was so very overwhelming. Thankfully I have family that helped me get through the devastation this done to me not only financially and emotionally. These people need to stop. I hate that he didn't think he could tell me why he was in the situation he was in and how it ended. Thank-you for highlighting this issue.
