Everytime I see the Titanic trying to outmanouver the ice berg, I am like "C'mon, you can do it!"
In First Man I am like: "Oh shit, they won't make it!"

After multiple 1202 alarms, notice Neil almost smashing the 1201 alarm at after receiving confirmation from Houston. Aldrin looks at him, and knows this man is not going back without touching the Moon. The camera then zooms in onto Neil's furious eyes lighting up seeing Moon's surface this close to his reach, almost saying -
"I've lost everything back on Earth, I'm bloody not turning back at any cost now".
    He needed this win....

@jimd3854 years ago Astonishing. That humans in a primitive tin can could fly to and navigate onto another world, with 1960’s technology, this film is a work of brilliance. The people who actually worked on the moon missions were pioneers and geniuses. ... 634

@fredbloggs83693 years ago It is a disgrace and indictment on our contemporaries that anybody believes this singular, magnificent human achievement was faked. Some people are just too stupid to bother debating. Justin Hurwitz's soundtrack is just amazing and captures the epic nature of this brilliant achievement. And where are we almost 60 years after? Can't even fly a single human to the moon anymore and rarely venture out of our lower atmosphere. ... 223

@cleverusername93692 years ago "The Eagle Has Landed" will forever be the most badass 4 words ever spoken by man. The first time a human set foot on another celestial body. There's nothing more badass a person can accomplish, even landing on Mars won't be as big a deal. It's gonna be a long goddamn time before we figure out a way to top Apollo 11 in terms of new human accomplishments of exploration. ... 18

He said "Give us a reading on the 1202 alarm" and a room full of competent people worked hard to get him a reading on the 1202 alarm. And they figured it out, realized they could proceed, and got back to him. Nobody argued or complained. They just fucking went to work. ... 40

@icecool41254 years ago This movie is so damn underrated. Must admit for some reason it didn't appeal to me when the posters and trailers first hit. Not sure they quite got the marketing right. However, the film itself was remarkable. I don't think I can articulate exactly how well I think Gosling played Armstrong. I felt totally drawn in by his acting. He seemed to have captured the complex emotional being that Armstrong was. ... 17

This commenter simply said, they couldn't believe this composer didn't get an Oscar for his work in this film..... I just could not agree more. Such a powerful visual aspect of the complexities of humans planning, engineering, resilience, and sheer will against such difficult odds, backed up with powerful and dramatic music like this. This video shows what factually CAN be done, irregardless of what backward conspiracy theorists believe. The Earth is spherical, the Moon IS 238,000 Miles away, and YES, WE HAVE set foot upon its surface!!!!!! ... 40

@marccano5061last year Last spring I was in Germany visiting family and we went to Speyer Teknik Museum where they have a replica of the eagle. We spent hours there. When we left in the late afternoon we were all tired from so much walking. I was sitting in the back seat and my host began playing this music in loop and I thought it matched the beautiful German countryside, but then I asked him about the music, and he told me it was the score to First Man.
When I got to the States I became observation with it, and have been playing it over and over.
